Purpose

In case of a server error or if an invalid URL is used, an error page is displayed to the user. The page contains all relevant information on the specific error as well as links to different parts of the ALDI Nord website. These error pages have a dedicated template which can be edited similar to the Editorial Pages. The main difference is however that the Error Pages are displayed without breadcrumb navigation.

Important Information:

To make sure that error pages are also displayed in case of AEM disclosure, the pages are replicated to the webservers hard disk after publishing.

The displayed Footer and Header links on the error pages are drawn from the dispatcher cache, to guarantee the latest links in these sections.

To test an error page on publisher the URL /http_500_testpage.html needs to be integrated in the web browser. To test the 404 error page a nonexistent page needs to be integrated in the web browser.

Configuration

To create the template, follow the steps below.

  • Step 1
    Create Error Page
  • Step2
    Integrate the following in the tab Basic:
    • a. Name (It is essential to type in the name in the following nomenclature: error_404, error_500, etc.)
    • b. Title long (Displayed as page headline)
    • c. Check Hide in Navigation
    • d. Check Hide on Overview Page
    • e. Choose stage image (optional)
    • f. Integrate ALT Text
    • g. Integrate Title (optional)
  • Step 3
    Fill in all relevant information in the tab SEO
  • Step 4
    Create page
  • Step 5
    Open     page
