Purpose

With the Media Component media assets (images and videos) can be integrated on templates. A previous upload of the assets into the DAM is required. There are two possibilities to integrate videos into the Media component: either by referencing a video from the DAM or by integrating a Youtube ID. When integrating videos from the DAM additional functionalities can be selected, for example Autoplay or Autoloop. 

When integrating only images in the Media component, the integrated image can be linked. For videos this is not possible, since clicking on the video results in playing the video.

The following examples show what the component can look like. Depending on the configuration, a component can be displayed in different ways.

Configuration

To create the component, follow the steps below. 

  • Step 1
    Click into the Media component
  • Step 2

    Integrate Video Asset into the respective field via Drag and Drop from the side panel
  • Step 4
    or integrate Youtube ID
  • Step 5
    If needed check checkbox to Hide Video Controls (only applicable for DAM videos)
  • Step 6
    If needed check checkbox to Start Video Automatically (Autoplay) (only applicable for DAM videos)
  • Step 7
    If needed check checkbox to Restart Video constantly (Auto Loop) (only applicable for DAM videos)
  • Step 8
    Integrate Image Asset into the respective field via drag and drop from the side panel (An image asset must also be integrated if a video or Youtube video was integrated before. Otherwise the preview image to the video would not be displayed.)
  • Step 9
    Integrate Title (optional)
  • Step 10
    Integrate ALT Text (If a video has been integrated the ALT Text must contain the video name to ensure the Analytics tracking of the video)
  • Step 11
    Integrate Author (This is a microdata setting, so whatever is integrated here is visible only in the source code. This is relevant for SEO)
  • Step 12
    Integrate Location (This is a microdata setting, so whatever is integrated here is visible only in the source code. This is relevant for SEO)
  • Step 13
    Integrate Media Subline (optional)
  • Step 14
    Integrate Link URL (only works for Image assets)
  • Step 15
    Integrate Title
  • Step 16
    Under Link Target choose whether the link should open in the same window or in a new window
