About the development of new requirements and optimizations of the Content Management System.

New Features and Enhancements

Remove IE11 Legacy Code :

Since the Internet Explorer 11 is not supported anymore all of the browser specific codes has been removed. This ensures a enhanced performance and less barriers for further deployments.

Removed codes:

  • IE11 Polyfills
  • IE11 Vendor Prefixes
  • IE11 soecific CSS
  • IE11 specific JavaScript

Do not grey out energy efficiency label:

The new policy released by the Europen Union says that sold out articles should still have the colored efficiency label.

Therefore, the inactive efficiency labels have been removed from the older scales since only the product groups of washing machines, washer-dryers, refrigerators, freezers and electronics will switch to the new scale and the rest will keep the old scale until September or later.

Implementation Design System - Typography:

New Buttons

As a next step of implementing the new design system the Headings, Bodytexts, Footnotes, Validationtexts, Lists and Quotes have been adjusted.

Test automation: Asterisk Texts/ Foot Notes :

Until now the footnotes would be only checked on the Consumer Home Page for Germany.

This has been extended in the test automation for all markets and for more templates besides the Consumer Home Page.

LU - Adjustment for HR Service:

An adjustment has been made for the LU HR Page (German version). Since they do not have DE jobs for their page the jobs will be drawn from the LU-French version.

DE - Enable User to unsubscribe from external Newsletter:

The travel newsletter is not being listed on the newsletter subscription page anymore. However customers who already signed up for the travel newsletter will get the option to sign out for it, if they open the sign out page.

The travel newsletter will be only displayed on the sign out page for customers who are listed as a recipient.

Additional Counter per topic

It´s now possible to sent out specific topics on the contact form via Email. Therefore, an additional counter has been implemented which can be set on the value "Email" or "CRM"

How to use the new counter:

Etablishment of a uniform VersionPurge - Part II:

Until now older versions of pages were only replaced and cleaned up with a publish of the exact same page but still the older versions would be existent in the system. Especially older versions of old pages / objects are being stored in the Version Store and Data Store even after they have been deleted through the Asset Cleaner.

The Version Purge will be done once a week and will focus on max 100 Versions which are older than 92 days.

This will release a big amount of disk space and will improve the performance.

Feature Flag for Product Availability:

New Checkbox for product availability

Two checkboxes have been included into the Country Page to regulate the product availability for the App as well as for the website.

You can open the Country Page on tab COUNTRY SETTINGS and check the new checkboxes Show product availability on the Website and  Show product availability in the App.

Important Information

The according Stock availability feature is not ready for use yet.

AEM - Dismantling log file for selectors:

A Logfile which records specific selectors after a deployment has been taken out since these are currently not being evaluated and are strain the system.

Update automatic report on inactive users:

A report can be drawn by admin responisbles to check for inactive users which did the last login in AEM more than 12 weeks ago. This is a optimization for reporting purposes.

Harmonize the Logging:

Until now the logging output had no specific pattern to follow which made it hard to evaluate which output could be a serious warning since specific log level could not always be tracked down to a certain issue.

Therefore a logging stragedy has been defined which clarifies for example:

  • A definition of the different log levels
  • The amount of information for the outputs
  • Time pattern for saving the logfiles
  • Process for Finding evaluation

Cleanup Apache redirects:

A big amount of redirects were neccessary and being used during the Cut Over time. However most of them are not relevant and not in use anymore. These are being removed with a cleanup up in the apache to reach a better performane for the apache webserver.

In the past there has been an option for editing in a html based view on the rich text editor which should not be used in AEM components. This options has been removed.
